GreenLight heeft aangekondigd in de schaal 1/18 Formula-E modellen te zullen gaan uitbrengen. Nu zullen de klanten niet rijen-dik hier voor de deur staan om deze aan te schaffen, maar toch leuk. Hier onder het volledige persbericht:

GREENLIGHT TO PRODUCE 1:18 SCALE FIA FORMULA E DIE-CAST

Ahead of the launch of the 2016/17 FIA Formula Championship in Hong Kong on October 9, the all-electric city street racing series has reached a licensing agreement with GreenLight Collectibles, which will allow GreenLight to mold, manufacture and distribute 1:18 scale model car replicas of the Spark SRT_01E racer.
“GreenLight is ecstatic to expand our presence within the racing universe with such a well-constructed organization as Formula E”, said Russell Hughes, GreenLight President. “We’re enthusiastic to see where electric-powered racing will take us in the future, and glad to be on the forward-thinking side of energy efficiency within the racing industry”.
Formula E is an FIA-sanctioned fully-electric racing championship that races in the heart of some of the world’s most iconic cities. It kicked off in September 2014, with the inaugural Beijing ePrix, and over the two subsequent seasons has crowned Nelson Piquet Jr and Sebastien Buemi as the drivers’ champions. For the 2016 schedule Hong Kong, Marrakesh, Brussels, New York City and Montreal have been added to the city street racing calendar. Formula E consists of 10 teams, each of which has two drivers and two cars for each event. The championship represents a vision for the future of the automotive racing industry, serving as a platform to showcase the latest innovations in electric vehicle technology and alternative energy solutions.
Formula E’s Marketing and Brand Director Ben Padley said, “Formula E has been impressed with the quality of GreenLight Collectibles’ scale models and we eagerly await the first production runs of the Formula E die-cast cars. These products are ideal for teams, sponsors and collectors alike.”

GreenLight Collectibles has a proud history of manufacturing and marketing authentic die-cast replicas of race cars from racing series’ around the globe. Over the past decade GreenLight has manufactured model cars under license for the Verizon IndyCar® Series, NASCAR®, Rolex Sports Car SeriesTM and Corvette Racing, to mention a few.
This newest licensing agreement will give GreenLight the opportunity to make 1:18 scale Formula E cars – and with their newest, bold look for the 2016/17 season, inclusive of the dynamic new front wing. Collectors around the globe are likely to take note.
